Sewing buttons

While everyone sleep their way through New Year’s Day afternoon, I began to work on my shirt. To be exact, it was actually replacing old buttons. One of the button came loose and there was no spares. I went to Spotlight after my first day at work to source for buttons. Lo and behold, I found a similar button to those on my shirt. However similar, there are some differences. The buttons on the shirts are yellowing (it is an old shirt), and the design of the new button is a bit plain when compared with the old one. So I ended up buying 8 buttons (7 + 1 spare) for a shirt.

Anyway, I replaced the entire set of buttons of the shirt. Not sewing for quite some time, I decided to re-sew the old buttons as a test and find out what is the best way to sew the buttons on and I had some pointers from my mom. Apparently, there is not a need for an ending knot if the correct stitch or tightness of the final few stitches can hold the thread. I ended up sewing 10 buttons in total. The entire process took the entire afternoon.

It really tested my patience and focus. Well, it  was fun while it lasted.
